How to Use Quick Assist

In Windows 10, there is a built-in feature called Quick Assist that allows someone to access your computer and control your mouse remotely. If you do not have Windows 10, or you have a Mac, use AnyDesk. To set up an appointment, visit the Contact Jo page. At the time of the appointment, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Windows key + r
  2. Type “quickassist” and then press Enter.
  3. Under Get Assistance, enter the 6-digit code that I will email to you a few minutes before the appointment.
  4. Once I connect, the window will say, “Select Allow to let Josiah K. view your screen during this session.” Make sure it says Josiah K. and not anyone else. Also, close any programs that may have sensitive information visible since I will be able to see your screen. Click Allow.
  5. After several seconds, the screen-sharing and mouse-controlling session will begin. You will see this at the top of your screen:

I will now be able to control your mouse and see your screen, although you can still move your mouse and counteract my movements. You can click the pause button (on the bar at the top) at any time to pause screen sharing or the X at the top right to end the session. Also, if there is a red dot on the rightmost button as seen in the above picture, click the button to view my message to you. You can also send messages back. However, it may be easier to call me then to keep typing messages. My phone number is (717) 925-7893.
